I adore places and shops that have decades of history {and stories}. Despite the active invasion of the corporate retailers and commercial shops in small towns and nearby cities, in Charleston {and generally in South Carolina}, there are places that folks still try to maintain and run. Places that has a lot of history. Places where everybody *still* knows your name every time you walk in like Simmons Barber Shop in Summerville, South Carolina.
Simmons Barber Shop is located at the heart of downtown Summerville, on Main Street. I come to this place often to get my ears lowered {or rather, get a haircut). Romy Simmons owns and runs the place. His daddy ran it back in the day.
Pretty cool place, if you ask me.
This chair is older than me and they still use it.
They use scissors to cut hair instead of those clipper-thingys. AND they use the traditional razors to shave people’s necks and beards and mustache. The barbers are very good at using it.
When you’re in Summerville, come get your haircut at this really cool place.
