I met Katie and Robert last winter on their way down to see a concert in Charleston. I immediately felt great chemistry with both of them. I knew right away that working with them would be a blast. They are just so awesome and kind and so easy to talk to and so easy to work with. They are both graduates of Virginia Tech (go hokies!) and decided to move to Charleston to start their life together.
Katie and Robert had a beautiful church wedding in Mount Pleasant. My Team and I were not allowed to shoot during the ceremony by the orders of the church wedding coordinator, or should i say wedding nazi. So- we shot through the glass door. Yes, the images you see of the ceremony were shot through a glass door. I had to wipe the glass a bit with my shirt and clean the glass in order for me to get a decent picture. With a little sweat on my shirt, viola! a clear glass door! 🙂
In situations like these, you are just going to have to use your ingenuity to do what you are there for- to document and tell a story. We were ordered “not” to take pictures “in” the sanctuary. Nobody said anything about taking pictures outside the sanctuary. So we did. Just for Katie and Robert. For them to remember how beautiful it was from back where we were held hostage by the wedding nazi.
At any rate, the beautiful reception was held and at the
South Carolina Aquarium on Charleston Harbor Thanks to Holly Simpson for letting us in and check out the place before the wedding.
To Katie and Robert, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to work with you both and allowing me play a part in your wedding. I am grateful for your trust, friendship and generosity. I wish you lots and lots of children ;), many blessings and the best of everything.

I love this image… my favorite…
Here’s Team CVI- me, acting goofy and at times pretending to work, Sarah-my favorite assistant, and Laiken- my other favorite assistant :). They mean the world to me. They are hard workers, great people, and they make me look good every wedding. I couldn’t do what I do every wedding without them. Shhh, don’t tell them I wrote this, they might ask for a raise… 😉
Here’s a shot of Sarah again. I use my assistants as “light test” subjects. Perfect opportunity to get goofy.
